Outline

February 12, 2009

We took  on board what was said in the previous presentation and have decided to narrow our project down more specific areas so that it is clear what we will be undertaking.
Our main focus is looking at the miss interpretation that people get by looking at images in magazines and online etc. Focusing more importantly on females.

Untouched image and Final Touched Up Image

From right to left: Untouched image and Final 'Touched Up' Image

We are going to build up to this subject with a range of Vox Pop interviews with a wide range of people to show what the public think is sexy. E.g. if they name certain models/celebrities and if they believe that’s what they really look like. We will be asking the public our own questions

It’s obvious that if you haven’t seen the original image, you don’t know whats been touched up and we will be looking to find out what are the most common areas that are touched up.

The documentary aims to answer a range of questions.

What is the impact it has on people’s confidence and self esteem?

Does this make them want to change their own appearance?

Do they believe that they need to look like the touched up images to be considered sexy/pretty or are they aware that natural beauty comes into a league of it’s own?

Can we do anything to improve peoples perseption of Beauty?

Title sequence idea

February 12, 2009

Luke here, just came up with an idea for the title sequence.

A storyline of us getting ready, doing hair, putting on clothes, hands doing make up on us, loads of different pictures coming together in a animation.

The camera then zooms in on the person, freeze’s into an image and is then touched up in Photoshop.

Ending the title sequence.

Logo smash from behind the image.

or there is a flash (as if picture is being taken) then when flash dissapears the logo appears.

Presenting

February 12, 2009

Throughout the documentary, either myself or Luke (or both) will be presenting to the audience, our findings so far on our trip. The presenting medium will mainly be done through voiceover (our own voices rather then the usual voiceovers we would find from the industry). The voiceover will take place mainly over establishing shots, montages, filling shots, illustrations etc.

At the beginning of the video we will show parts of the documentary with our voiceover over the top, to draw people in and sit through the duration of the documentary because they might see something that will interest them in the brief parts shown.

Other presenting sections include myself and Luke (or both) in front of a studio white background where we talk to each other in a casual manner as if we are catching up (like women chat on to each other). We have already tested the means to do this and you can find some test footage below. The recce went successfully and we are certainly going to continue with this style for now.

Other presenting parts to fill include footage of us arranging meetings, etc.

Short Synopsis

January 27, 2009

We aim to provide our audience with a modern look at what it means to be sexy/ugly. As we travel through the documentary, we will be interviewing people at random from the streets of big cities and small seaside towns to find out what they believe it is that makes somebody sexy/ugly. With so many different lifestyle shows on television representing the media’s views on what they tell you it means to be sexy, is this really the truth? Are these showsactually trying to help peoples confidence or just make us at home feel better that we don’t look as fat has half of the people on those shows.

Our documentary will be put together with a boistrous attitude and slick edit style. We are very much approaching the project in a light hearted and silly manner.
